Rough Edges
This poem is part of a larger series I created for my Drawing II class that explored identity through mixed media or abstract representations. 1

Rough Edges
Signs of
the storms
I've weathered
Badges of
emotional honor
The strong
foundation
I have built
myself upon
The more frayed
the edge,
more and more
loose ends
The rougher
the surface,
the more
it clings to
(and clings to it)
The texture
of my art
is the story
of my life
